How to quantify impact in resume bullets
Metrics make your work real. If you can’t quantify everything, quantify something.
What to measure
- Time: hours saved, faster cycle time, shorter deploys
- Cost: cloud cost reduction, vendor savings
- Quality: fewer incidents, higher accuracy, fewer errors
- Scale: users, dashboards, rows/day, events/sec
- Adoption: teams using it, stakeholders served
If you don’t have exact numbers
Use safe approximations:
- “reduced refresh time by ~30%”
- “supported 20+ stakeholders”
- “processed millions of rows/day”
Don’t invent numbers. Use ranges or “approx.” when needed.
Pair metrics with proof
- what changed
- how you did it
- why it mattered
