How HyperApply Reads Job Descriptions

job-listings job-description privacy how-it-works

HyperApply generates tailored CVs using two inputs:

1) Your base CV (your source of truth)

2) The job listing content you’re viewing in your browser

This page explains the job-description side in plain language.

The simple explanation

When you open a job listing, the extension reads the job description text that is visible to you on the page. That content is used to:

  • identify key requirements and skills
  • understand the role’s emphasis (tools, responsibilities, outcomes)
  • guide the wording and ordering of your CV content

Why “visible content” matters

Many job sites (including LinkedIn) collapse parts of the description behind “See more”.

If a key section is hidden, it may not be included in what HyperApply can use.

Tip: Expand the description before generating.

What if the page is dynamic?

Some job pages load in steps:

  • title appears first
  • company appears next
  • description appears later

If you generate too early, HyperApply may have incomplete context.

Best practice: wait a moment after the page finishes loading.

What HyperApply does *not* do

  • It does not “browse your account” or read unrelated pages.
  • It does not auto-submit applications.
  • It does not attempt to bypass the job site’s UI—HyperApply works with what you are already viewing.

Privacy: the practical summary

  • Your base CV and generated documents are stored so you can reuse and download them later.
  • Job listing text is used to generate your tailored CV, but the full job description text is not stored as part of your history.
  • HyperApply keeps minimal job metadata (like job title, company, and job URL) to support your history view.

FAQ

Should I paste the job description manually?

Typically no. HyperApply uses the listing content you’re viewing. If the page is missing content, expand sections or try a different view of the same listing.

Will it work on every job site?

Coverage can vary by site and page layout. HyperApply is designed to work alongside job listings in your browser.
