Templates Overview
On this page
Templates control how your CV looks as a PDF—layout, typography, spacing, and section styling. They are designed to keep your CV readable while HyperApply tailors the content for each role.
What templates change
Templates can change:
- overall layout (e.g., spacing, columns, header style)
- font choices and hierarchy (headings vs body)
- section separation and visual rhythm
- where optional sections appear (e.g., Projects, Links)
What templates do not change
Templates do not change:
- the truthfulness of your experience
- what you actually did (you must review and approve content)
- whether the CV is relevant (that depends on your base CV + the job context)
How to choose a default template
Most job seekers do best with:
1) one default template they use 80–90% of the time
2) one alternate template for specific role types (optional)
Pick your default by optimizing for:
- readability (fast scanning)
- consistency across applications
- a clean structure (clear Experience / Skills / Education)
When to switch templates
Switch templates when:
- you want a more minimal layout for ATS-heavy processes
- you want a more premium look for client-facing/brand-sensitive roles
- your content length changes and you want better spacing
