Recommended Workflow for Best Results

getting-started workflow best-practices ats quality

The best results with HyperApply come from a simple, repeatable workflow. This guide shows a practical process you can use every day during an active job search.

1) Build a strong base CV once

Your base CV should include:

  • your core experience and tools
  • impact metrics where possible
  • projects that show proof of your skills

See: /docs/add-your-base-cv

2) Apply only to roles you actually fit

Don’t waste CV generations on roles that are clearly misaligned. Quick screening:

  • do you meet ~60–70% of requirements?
  • do you have at least one relevant recent project?
  • can you truthfully match the role’s core responsibilities?

3) Generate a Balanced version first

Balanced is the best default:

  • clear
  • credible
  • less “salesy”

See: /docs/how-to-choose-a-writing-mode

4) Use skill suggestions as a mirror (not a mask)

Skill suggestions tell you what the role emphasizes.

Use them to:

  • reorder your skills
  • emphasize relevant bullets and projects
  • align wording with the job’s language

Don’t use them to claim skills you don’t have.

5) Run a 90-second review pass

Check:

  • Truthfulness: remove anything you can’t defend
  • Specificity: add 1–2 concrete details if it’s too generic
  • Relevance: ensure top bullets match the job
  • Length: avoid bloat

6) (Optional) Generate a Hyper version for punch

Hyper mode can improve hooks and energy, but always review carefully.

7) Download and name the PDF consistently

See: /docs/how-to-download-your-pdf

8) Track what works

As you apply, keep notes:

  • which versions got replies
  • which companies responded faster
  • which phrasing patterns helped

Use those insights to improve your base CV and your default mode/template.

  • Pick 5–10 roles worth applying to
  • For each:
  • generate Balanced
  • review & adjust
  • apply
  • End of day:
  • update your base CV with any repeated improvements you noticed

FAQ

Is it better to apply fast or tailor more?

Tailoring matters, but it must be sustainable. HyperApply is designed to make “tailor properly” fast enough to do consistently.

Should I generate multiple versions for every job?

Not always. Balanced is enough for many roles. Use Hyper when you want a punchier variant.
