Troubleshooting: Formatting Issues
On this page
If your generated PDF looks “off” (overflows, awkward spacing, too dense), these fixes usually solve it fast.
1) Shorten long bullets first
The most common cause is very long lines and bullets.
- aim for 1–2 lines per bullet
- remove filler words
- keep outcomes and metrics
2) Reduce repetitive skills
A long skills list can push important content down or create dense blocks.
See: /docs/how-to-avoid-keyword-stuffing
3) Try a different template
Some templates handle long content better than others.
4) Control CV length
Decide if you are aiming for:
- one page
- two pages
Then tailor content accordingly.
See: /docs/how-to-control-length-one-page-vs-two-page
5) Fix inconsistent dates/titles in your base CV
Inconsistent formats (dates, titles) can create visual clutter.
Update your base CV once, and future generations improve.
6) Still looks wrong?
